Meeting Preparation

Walk into every IEP meeting with a plan

Tell Highlighter what kind of meeting is coming. It builds a prep packet from the student's records: issues to raise, questions to ask, data to reference, and talking points that cite the page they came from.

30 days free. Card required to start. Cancel before the trial ends and you won't be charged.

How it works

  1. Choose the meeting.

Annual review, eligibility, reevaluation, or a meeting you called. Add anything the documents don't show, like a concern the family raised last week.

The meeting type menu in Prepare for a Meeting: parent teacher conference, annual review, initial IEP, IEP amendment, evaluation or eligibility.
  2. Highlighter reads the file.

It works from every document, note, and timeline event already in the student's case.

The meeting prep form with the family's goal for the meeting filled in and two documents attached.
  3. Get the packet.

Key issues, questions to ask, services data, and talking points, each with a citation back to the document and page.

A meeting packet section, The two issues that must be resolved at this meeting, starting with missing progress monitoring data and citing the IEP page.
  4. Share it.

Review the packet with the family before the meeting so everyone walks in with the same priorities.

The finished meeting prep packet with Download and Save buttons, and sections for questions to ask, goals to review, and services to confirm.

Good meetings start with preparation

Most of a good IEP meeting happens before anyone sits down. Knowing what the last evaluation recommended, which services the plan includes and how they're going, and what to ask for keeps the conversation focused on the student. Highlighter does the assembly so you can spend your prep time on strategy, and on Plan B.

  • Built from this student's documents, not a generic template

  • Citations to the page, so every point holds up when the team asks where it came from

  • Collaborative language that keeps the team working together

  • Saved to the case for the next meeting

"When I went to IEP meetings, I pretty much stayed quiet. Honestly, I would be intimidated or not really sure what to say during them. I felt like I was supposed to know things I didn't. Now that I've used Highlighter for a meeting, I'm like, 'Let's go!'"

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to upload to get a packet?

Whatever you have: the current IEP, recent evaluations, progress reports, and school emails. The more the case holds, the more specific the packet.

What if the meeting is tomorrow?

Upload what you have tonight and you will still walk in organized.

Can a parent use this without an advocate?

Yes. Parents are equal members of the IEP team, and the family plan includes meeting preparation for $5 a month.
